experience

Mark Sharman, MA, DMS, DipM, GIFireE, is a former officer of the London Fire Brigade, the UK's largest
fire and rescue service
(LFB), and has over 35 years operational, fire safety and training experience.

From 2001, Mark managed the continual professional development of LFB fire safety audit teams and
in addition, the provision of fire safety training to organisations based in London and the Home Counties until 2011.

Leading the LFB’s ISO 9001: 2008 accredited Commercial Training Unit (CTU) and certified to teach in
the lifelong learning sector, Mark directed a team of highly experienced, skilled and qualified trainers in the
development of a course portfolio, designed to support organisations with their fire safety compliance
obligations.

Mark Sharman

With experience of meeting the training requirements of some 3,000 organisations, he has overseen the
training of more than 30,000 delegates. Courses undertaken range from fire awareness and fire warden, to
the advanced fire risk assessor course accredited by the
Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

As the leading professional body in the field of fire, the IFE was the first UK organisation to establish a
register and it remains the largest scheme presently in the UK. The IFE is also a member of the Fire Sector Federation, which has published national competency criteria with which all applicants
to schemes are expected to be familiar.

Mark is an Engineering Technician and is registered as a fire risk assessor (life safety) with the Institution of Fire Engineers.
